If you’ve ever dreamed of going to Hogwarts, or becoming a wizard, here’s your chance to have one of those fantasies fulfilled! Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be officially launching on June 21.

What can we expect?

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is under Niantic (yes, the company behind Pokemon GO), so expect a lot of exploring and AR-technology involved as part of gameplay.

The basic premise of the game is that there’s something odd going on in the wizarding world. A Calamity is causing artefacts, creatures, people and even memories (all collectively known as “Foundables”) to mysteriously appear in the muggle (that’s us humans) world.

Players will take on the role of a new recruit under the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, a division established by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards to investigate The Calamity.

Sounds like an interesting enough premise? Here’s what else Niantic had to say about the game:

“As you step outside and explore the world, the Map will reveal Traces of magic, highlighting the location of magical Foundables. While these Traces can be found all around you, certain Foundables may be more likely to appear at various types of real-world locations including parks, banks, muncipal buildings college campuses, libraries, monuments, zoos, art galleries, and more. Cast a variety of spells to overcome the Confoundable magic, keep the magical Foundables safe, and send them back to the wizarding world.”

Sounds exciting enough! Players will also need to stop by Inns (which are presumably the same as Pokestops in Pokemon GO) to collect food and drinks that replenish their spell energy, in order for them to be able to cast spells.

Plus, it seems as though players will be able to have multiplayer battles against dangerous foes from the series, such as Death Eaters. Players will also have the freedom to choose which profession they’d like to specialise in – between Magizoologists, Aurors and Professors – who all have their own unique skills and abilities.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be launching worldwide on June 21, for both Apple and Android. Pre-registration is now available on Google Play.
