It’s a new month soon, which means that PlayStation Plus subscribers will once again get access to a new pair of games, for free. As announced on Wednesday by Sony, this coming month’s free games are Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Sonic Mania.
Check out Sony’s video announcement of the games (along with a couple of clips of gameplay) here:
What are these games like?
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is pretty good game for catching up with the Borderlands franchise, before the release of Borderlands 3 in September this year. The package includes 2012’s Borderlands 2 and 2014’s Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – two games for free! If you’re interested in playing the original Borderlands, however, you’ll have to get it separately on either the PC, PS4 or Xbox One.

On the flip side, Sonic Mania is a game that is pretty much a throwback. It’s a 16-bit side-scrolling platformer in which players can play as Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles “Tails” Prower and Knuckles the Echidna.

With these classic Sonic characters being playable, it’s perfect for fans of the franchise, who might have been disappointed by the delay of the Sonic movie. Alternatively, it’s a pretty good pick for gamers who miss the retro style and feel of such 16-bit games.
Both Sonic Mania and The Handsome Collection will be free for PlayStation Plus members on June 4. If these two games aren’t quite your cup of tea, don’t fret! May’s free games for PlayStation Plus members, Overcooked and What Remains of Edith Finch, are still up for grabs until then! Previews of the May games are available here:
If you’re interested in them and haven’t gotten them, better grab them before it’s too late!
