Xiaomi’s REDMI Note series has always been about bringing as much phone as possible to a price point that does not make your bank account cry. With the new REDMI Note 17 Series, Xiaomi is doubling down on that formula with bigger batteries, stronger protection, brighter displays and a new top-tier model: the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G.
The new lineup includes four models—the REDMI Note 17, REDMI Note 17 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G—and marks a major milestone for the brand. Xiaomi says the REDMI Note family has now passed 500 million shipments worldwide, which is a lot of phones living in a lot of pockets.
Built for years, not just launch day.
The main message behind this generation is REDMI Titan Quality: phones designed to survive the sort of daily abuse that involves drops, rain, sweaty hands and that one pocket full of keys you definitely should not have put your phone into.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G are the first phones in the industry to receive TÜV SÜD’s 5-star Titan Quality Certification, which tests long-term reliability across drop resistance, water protection and battery performance. Both Pro models have been tested for drops from up to three metres onto granite surfaces, while their reinforced internal structures use stronger motherboards, upgraded mid-frames and impact-absorbing cushioning to protect critical components.
Water resistance is also a major upgrade. The two Pro phones carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, and have passed a 72-hour, two-metre immersion test. Xiaomi is also introducing an Underwater Mode for the first time, although this is still very much not an invitation to use your phone as a dive camera without a proper waterproof case.
Battery life has gone full power bank.
The biggest headline belongs to the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which carries Xiaomi’s largest-ever smartphone battery: a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon cell. It supports 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging, so it can also help rescue your earbuds, smartwatch or another phone when battery anxiety strikes. Xiaomi claims up to three days of battery life on a single charge, with 20 minutes of charging providing a full day of use under its test conditions.
The rest of the lineup is hardly starving for power either. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G gets an 8,340mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge, while both the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 pack 7,700mAh batteries with 45W turbo charging. Xiaomi says the batteries are designed to retain at least 80% of their original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, or roughly six years of typical use.
Flagship-style displays without flagship prices.
The Pro models sport 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED displays with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rates, 12-bit colour, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and a 3,200Hz instantaneous touch-sampling rate for gaming. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G also adds HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
Meanwhile, the REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 5G go bigger with 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED screens, 120Hz refresh rates and 1,800 nits peak brightness. They may not carry the Pro models’ 1.5K resolution or premium glass, but they still look like very capable streaming and gaming displays for the money.
Audio has been upgraded too. The standard models offer a 200% volume boost, the Pro goes up to 300%, and the Pro Max gets a claimed 400% boost alongside dual speakers, Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support. Your YouTube videos should now be loud enough to irritate everyone in the same room without needing a Bluetooth speaker.
Performance and cameras.
At the top, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 platform, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage in the 256GB and 512GB versions. It is not a flagship Snapdragon 8-series chip, but it should be far better equipped for daily multitasking, gaming and heavy app use than the pricing suggests.
The Pro Max features a 50MP main camera with OIS and an f/1.5 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera. It can record 4K video at 30fps, supports dual-video recording and includes Professional Video mode and Live Moment tools.

The standard Note 17 and Note 17 5G both use a 50MP main camera and 16MP front shooter. Across the lineup, Xiaomi includes AI-powered editing tools such as AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion and AI Sky, while the Pro models add extras including AI Glare Removal and AI Image Enhancement.
Google Gemini and Circle to Search are available across the range, while the Pro Max also receives Xiaomi HyperAI features such as AI Writing, AI Interpreter and AI Speech Recognition.
Design and colours.
Xiaomi has refreshed the REDMI Note design with flat displays, rounded corners, a redesigned camera module and a dual-finish rear panel. The Pro models also get a more seamless frame-to-back transition for a more polished in-hand feel.
The standout finish is the Pro Max’s Cloud Blush option, a photochromic rear panel that changes from cloud white to a pink-orange tone under UV light. It is joined by Purple and Black. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G comes in Sky Blue, Purple and Black, while the standard REDMI Note 17 5G is available in Celestial Purple and Sky Teal.
Singapore pricing and launch offers.
Pre-orders begin from 27 August 2026, 8pm SGT, and run until 2 September 2026. The first sales promotion runs from 3 September to 30 September 2026, with availability through mi.com, official Xiaomi stores on Shopee and Lazada, Xiaomi Stores and partner retailers.

The launch benefits are unusually substantial. The big picture.
The REDMI Note 17 Series is Xiaomi’s most aggressive durability-and-battery pitch yet. A 10,000mAh battery in a sub-S$800 phone is already attention-grabbing, but pairing it with high-end water resistance, a reinforced build, a bright AMOLED display and lengthy repair benefits makes the Pro Max look especially interesting.
Whether the cameras and Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 platform can match the rest of that very stacked spec sheet will need real-world testing. But on paper, Xiaomi has made the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G feel less like a typical mid-range device and more like a phone built for people who are tired of charging every night—and replacing cracked screens every year.
