Ending off E3 Day One’s round of conferences and announcements with a bang is Square Enix! With Final Fantasy 7’s (FFVII) remake announced earlier on and Marvel’s Avengers getting teased previously, there’s tons of buzz and excitement leading up to Square Enix’s leg of the E3 conferences.
Fortunately, we’ve gotten information on those upcoming games and more.
New Trailer and Gameplay Footage for Final Fantasy VII’s Remake!
First announced with a teaser trailer about a month back, it’s been known for a while now that Final Fantasy VII is getting a super HD remake. This time, at E3, we’re treated to a full, glorious 20 minutes worth of gameplay.
From the gorgeous takes on familiar characters, to cool features like motorcycle combat – quite frankly, the game looks amazing. The difference in graphics is even more jarring when you compare the 1997 version of the game against the new one, side by side.
Final Fantasy VII will be launching on the PS4 on March 3, 2020.
Final Fantasy VIII Remaster Announced!
Following the news about Final Fantasy VII is arguably, E3’s biggest surprise (other than Keanu Reeves, of course): a remastered version of Final Fantasy VIII (Final Fantasy 8)!
While FFVIII won’t be getting the same ultra-HD graphics treatment that FFVII did, players can still expect gameplay enhancements (3x speed, enhanced damage caps) to come along with this remastered version of the game.
Final Fantasy VIII will be releasing sometime this year, in 2019, though no official release date has been confirmed.
Final Fantasy Music Now Available for Online Streaming.
To top off all the Final Fantasy news, Square Enix has made the soundtracks for all the Final Fantasy games available on a range of music streaming platforms!
From Spotify and Apple Music, to Bilibili and Line Music, now you can immerse yourself in your feelings and get emotional over your dead Final Fantasy favourites on the go.
First Look at Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day
With that, Square Enix moves its announcements on from one beloved franchise to another. Avengers: Endgame might have marked the end of an era for the MCU, but we all know the hype for the Avengers will never die.
Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day banks on this hype and strives to bring more, what with its stunning graphics and original storyline featuring the OG lineup of Avengers. Minus Hawkeye, that is.
Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day is slated for release in May 2020, on consoles and for PC.
New Co-Op Action Game Outriders Announced!
Apart from popular franchises, Square Enix has original titles to announce as well!
Outriders is a co-op action game for up to three players that’s “set in an original dark and desperate sci-fi universe”. It will be featuring drop-in, drop-out co-op play – though we’re not entirely sure what that entails at this point.
Outriders is expected to launch in Summer 2020.
New J-RPG Oninaki Revealed!
Who doesn’t love a good J-RPG? Coming from Tokyo RPG Factory (I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear) comes Oninaki – a new action RPG.
Unlike the classic-style JRPGs usually produced by the studio, Oninaki has a more solemn setting. Players will be controlling a character “whose duty is to usher lost souls into the next world”.
Oninaki will be releasing in August this year, for consoles and on Steam / PC.
That just about sums up everything that Square Enix announced. That’s the end of E3’s Day 1 announcements – we can’t wait to see what else is in store for tomorrow’s conferences!
