It’s a great time of the year to be a Pokémon fan. With all the information from yesterday’s Sword and Shield-centric Nintendo Direct, fans are more excited than ever for the game releasing on November 15.

The excitement has been going strong for a good day or so now, towards just about every new thing introduced in the direct. Of course, this excitement takes the form of tons of memes, jokes and fan art on the internet.

Which Pokémon have been popular?

As one might expect from initial reactions to the Pokémon Sword and Shield starters, some of the new Pokémon that were revealed have been incredibly well-received.

One of them is Wooloo, a new Normal-type sheep Pokémon that is the internet’s obsession for the day.

With it’s adorable appearance and its habit of “rolling away from danger”, it’s no wonder that its spawned tons of fanart in its fluffy wake.

Wooloo’s not the only Pokémon receiving love, either! There’s tons of love for Corviknight, the game’s newest Flying and Steel-type Pokémon. It’s a giant crow that’s been said to carry trainers around the region (kind of like an airborne taxi), which, unsurprisingly, has spawned both fanart and memes.

The two new legendary Pokémon, Zacian and Zamazenta, have been warmly received as well. It seems that a lot of people favour the design of the Sword Pokémon, Zacian, though.

What about the new NPCs?

Of course, the new Pokémon aren’t the only things that are receiving hype. Some of the newly introduced non-player characters (NPCs) have been getting tons of love as well. Leon, the Galar region’s questionably dressed champion, is one of them.

While people have been poking fun at his outfit, some have also pointed out that he bears resemblance to Iris, the champion in Pokémon Black/ White 2.

The other would be Sonia, the fashionable and adorable grand-daughter and assistant to the Galar region’s professor.

All in all, it’s clear that everyone’s already in love with the game and whatever it has to offer. Hopefully we’ll be getting more news about the game soon – at E3, maybe?
