We here at The Technovore barely write any articles that aren’t event coverage or reviews. It takes something special, nay…MONUMENTAL, for us to even consider devoting our oh so precious gaming time to talk about it. Like an asteroid approaching Earth and wiping out all life kind of deal. Thankfully, it’s not that dire…this time. Nope, this go round is all about SEGA’s Steam Summer Sale 2024!
YAY!
We don’t usually shill for companies (not unless they pay us the mucho bucks!) but in this case, we’re making an exception because I’m a SEGA fanboy (that’s what happens when you grow up playing the Mega Drive and think the Dreamcast is the ultimate fighting game console) and I think some of SEGA’s titles don’t get the respect and adoration that they deserve.
That and I love Segata Sanshiro.
Now you love Segata Sanshiro too.
It’s too late to resist. Just accept it and move on.
Our undying love for Segata Sanshiro aside, SEGA’s lineup of PC titles deserve a ton of love too!
Have you seen their catalogue? I’m not going to go through everything so I’ll spotlight the games I think everybody needs in their Steam library.
First off, a spy themed ARPG from Obsidian.

$20 is a pretty good price considering that the game was delisted for a while and only recently made it back. It’s a bit clunky but it’s a fine piece of gaming history that you might want to nab just because it might make another vanishing act in the distant future!
From saving the day as agent to saving the day as another secret agent!

Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth going for $50? Hell yeah. It’s honest the best Yakuza game and absolutely humongous in scope. I really, really, REALLY loved it in my review which you can read here.
Since you’re going to be getting Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, you might as well go all out and get the whole Yakuza series right?
First off, you’ll definitely need one of the prequels to Infinite Wealth; Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

I thought it was a bit of a tease because it was kind of short but getting the chance to play as Kiryu again was more than worth it! Yes, I’ve reviewed this too (which you can read here) so you know I’m not just blowing hot air.
Oh, you’re just getting started down the Yakuza (now called the Like a Dragon series) rabbit hole!
Since you’re playing the latter entries, you might as well get the first game with Ichiban in it!
What do you know…it’s on sale too! /surprise

You can’t beat $15 for a mainline Yakuza title! That’s the price of lunch! Skip one lunch, play the game instead! You’ll be fuller for it!
If you’re looking for something in the Yakuza line but different…this is the game for you!

Swords, intrigued and lots of fights! It’s classic Yakuza, minus a few hundred years or so! Still awesome though…and I said as much in my review too!
Need to stitch people up instead of cutting them open? Or feel like education would’ve given the baddies you tore up a better chance at life? Well, SEGA’s got you covered there too!
Presenting the Two Point series!

Now weirdly I never reviewed Two Point Hospital, but I did play the game on both PC and Xbox. It’s greeeeeeeeeeeeat (just like Tony the Tiger would say) so you’re really not jumping into parts unknown if you’re into games like Bullfrog’s Theme Hospital.
Two Point Campus is awesome too! I certainly thought so in my review of the game, which is again, why I think you should get it!
If you’re looking for something to escape from reality, you definitely will want to check into the Persona series.
Start off easy, go with Persona 3 Reload!

It’s the ‘newest’ Persona game (it’s a remake of the original version, with a DLC Epilogue coming later this year) and it’s also a great way to introduce yourself to the rest of the series since the basis of P3’s battle system is reused in the rest! Yes, I do love the game and if you need more information, read it all in my review!
Since you’re going into the Persona games, make sure to check out the ‘latest’ (as in the newest numbered entry) Persona game!

An expanded version of the original (with all the extras seamlessly integrated in the main game), P5 Royal is the definitive version of the RPG and one that’s well worth your limited playing time. I LOVE Morgana (that’s the blue eyed kitty that’s not a kitty) and the game in general…but hey, just read it all up in my review.
You might also want to try out Persona Tactica for a bit of a different take on the series.

I tried it but ummm…didn’t really like it. Read my review to see why but you should just try it (you can always get a refund with Steam’s 2 Hour Refund policy) just to see if you think differently than me!
Finally, we come to Sonic!

Sonic Superstars is classic Sonic with modern graphics! So what’s there to not like? NOTHING! It’s a near perfect 2D platformer that makes you feel like you’re back in the Mega Drive days! Read my review and you’ll see just how much I loved it!
Oh, if you’re a real old school SEGA fan (like me), definitely check this out!

Over 50 classic games in one bundle…including killer apps like Shining Force, Shining Force II, Phantasy Star IV, Golden Axe, Bare Knuckle and Gunstar Heroes! Holy crap! It’s like a compilation of all the greatest hits from my (and I assume your) childhood! This isn’t listed on the Sega’s Steam Summer Sale 2024 page though…but maybe I missed it?
You don’t need a review for this do you?!
DO YOU?!
Of course you don’t.
This is just a teeny sampling of what you should be getting from the sale.
I didn’t even mention games like Alien Isolation, Alien vs Predator, the Total War series, the Yakuza series, the old school Sonic Adventure games, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Binary Domain, Catherine, the Judgement series, the Valkyria series or even Persona 4 Arena Ultimax!
You have 11 days (Sega’s Steam Summer Sale 2024 ends on 11 July 2024) so make damn sure to save up enough to get all the titles you want! Don’t know which ones you really need? Read my reviews!
