Can you imagine having a 65-inch OLED TV mounted in your bedroom? It is akin to bringing the whole cinema to you! We were overjoyed to review the 2024 PRISM+ 65AL OLED TV over the Chinese new year holidays. Let’s find out if it’s worth it’s hype!

What is the PRISM+ 65AL TV?

The PRISM+ 65AL is an OLED 4K Google TV with a 120HZ refresh rate, Dolby Vision IQ and incorporated with 2.1.2ch Dolby Atmos speakers. Built to be massive and impressive, the brand new PRISM+ OLED TV line comes in 55,65 and 77 inches. Go big or go home right?’

What’s better is the pricing, the PRISM+ OLED 55,65 and 77inch are retailing at SGD1,899.00, SGD2,699.00 and SGD4,599.00 after applying the current promotion which ends on 11th March 2024. It also comes with Free 3-years Onsite warranty, Free delivery and Assemble and a Free Digital Antenna. The PRISM+ Alpha OLED TV can be purchased from PRISM+ website.

Aesthetics.

The PRISM+ 65AL is only available in metallic black and comes with a swivel stand that rotates 50 degrees. You can choose to have it mounted on the wall too which is free! The design is fairly standard for OLED TV’s which you can find in the market.

A touch of leather embellishment was added to the swivel stand and bezel for a little additional classiness to it which was nice to have. Do remember to remove the plastic protective film before using it!

Check out the size of the back panel as compared to an A4 paper, it was thin! The bezel is only 3.9mm thick which allows the 4K Ultra HD Display to really shine.

I love how all the ports are tucked neatly on one side of the TV, 2 X HDMI 2.0, 2 X HDMI 2.1, eARC, SPDIF Out, AV-in, RF-in 2 X USB 2.0 and an Ethernet LAN port are provided. I believe most people would not use these ports nowadays with the availability of Google TV and streaming Apps. But it is still important for us who uses the TV for console gaming and even as a secondary screen for casting.

The PRISM+ 65AL comes with 2 X 24W and 2 X 10W speakers which supports Dolby Atmos and DTS TruSurround. All of which are tucked nicely at the back panel.

Performance.

Now being an OLED TV, I had high hopes for the PRISM+ 65AL, OLED are naturally lighter and thinner than conventional LED/QLED panels. The PRISM+ 65AL weighs about 23kg which can be easily carried by anyone (Kudos to the delivery man who lugged it up 3 stories and got everything up running in 20 minutes).

The 4K OLED screen wowed me when the family was watching Pokemon (Picture doesn’t do justice to the TV). The colours were bright, deep and vibrant with a contrast ration of 1,500,000 to 1 the visuals seemed to jump out at us. Only bit is that there seems to be some glare to the screen and being a 65 inch TV, it really enhances the brightness and hits you during intense moments (OLEDs are naturally brighter than others). Good thing is that PRISM+ has Dolby Vision IQ incorporated in the AL65 which detects lighting conditions and viewing distances. It will automatically adjust the brightness and colour temperatures for optimal eye comfort.

In terms of the built-in sound system, the PRISM+ 65AL comes with a set of 2.1.2ch Dolby Atmos speakers. Watching films which are Dolby Atmos ready will make you feel like you are in the cinema, but a lot had to do with your room configuration and size too. If the room is too big, you won’t be able to get the 3D soundscape feel and when I turn up the volume it became a bit harsh. I mean who doesn’t blast the volume? We are practically having a Cinema in-room! I would really recommend a good sound bar to complement with the PRISM+ 65AL.

A myriad of applications can be accessed at your fingertips or simply by just using the Google voice assistant “Hey Google”. But the microphone is actually at the TV and not the remote, so speak up when you are using this function. Screen casting, Bluetooth pairing or even just using the digital antenna to tune in to your local TV stations are available when you don’t have any internet connectivity. The PRISM+ 65AL got you covered.

It was fun using the voice command to turn on and off the PRISM+ 65AL, especially with the kids. They will literally hang onto the Tv remote controller until the extent that it went missing during Chinese New Year! I had to call PRISM+ customer service support to request for a replacement and kudos to the team at PRISM+! I received the replacement controller the very next day, talk about great service!

TLDR.

If you don’t mind that this is by a local Singapore brand and an average sound output, the 65 inch OLED TV at SGD2,699 is a steal. You will not find a cheaper and better TV in this range.

The Good.

  • Affordable price, Great value.
  • Vivid Colour.
  • Great Customer Service.

The Bad.

  • Average audio.
  • Dolby Vision IQ can be better.
