Demand for better web casting equipment’s had been on the rise since the Covid 19 pandemic hit. Zoom meetings and home studies had been a norm for us and we will definitely appreciate a camera that will make us look good.
Jabra recently launched a webcam that is aim at the home consumer market. The Panacast 20 is a portable webcam that was build for home use and also for small group conferencing.
What is the Jabra Panacast 20?
The Jabra Panacast 20 is an intelligent AI-enabled personal video conferencing device. Priced at S$511.00, the Panacast 20 is the most affordable video conferencing device by Jabra.
However, do I really need a webcam that cost above S$500? There are many other options in the market that are way cheaper and gets the job done. Or is it?
Price Justification

Let’s talk about why the Jabra Panacast 20 commands such a high price.
Hardware
Like any other Jabra products, Jabra always provides a light weight and sturdy casing for it’s devices. The Panacast 20 weighing in at 136g and measuring 44mmx25mmx80mm is a solid piece of hardware.

The casing of the Panacast 20 is made out of solid metal and has a corrugated flat top. The lens itself is positioned at the tip of the oval casing and it comes with a privacy cover which can be activated by the sliding switch right below.
The Panacast 20 sits nicely on the monitor by adjusting the clip on swivel. Connection is via a type C USB cable and best of all it’s plug and play!
Software
The Jabra Panacast 20 utilizes an advance processor with AI technology. The 13-megapixel camera when coupled with the intelligent zoom technology allows the user to always be in centered, even when the user is moving. The 4K HD image that was produced was clear with virtually no latency.
The Panacast 20 utilizes intelligent lighting optimisation. Even in low light situations, the Panacast 20 is able to adjust and optimised the video quality.

Another feature is the picture-in-picture function which allows the user to zoom in and highlight onto an item and also have an overview picture in another frame. It is an useful function for doing product sales or presentations.
One of the main functions of the Jabra Panacast 20 is it’s conferencing function. With three MEMS mics embedded, the mics are able to pickup most of the conversations in a small meeting room. The camera’s angle of view is cap at 90 degrees which is sufficient for most small meeting rooms. However, i would cap it at around five person and turn off the auto-zoom function.
The Bottom line.

The Jabra Panacast 20 is a quality piece of hardware with great AI software that brings out the best in a person anywhere and anytime. It feels good and it’s easy to use. But for the price, I will be hesitant to pick it up unless I’m feeling rich.
