Unlike most publishers, 505 Games have decided to buck the trend of giving free upgrades for current generation games when their enhanced cousins arrive for the next generation of consoles.

It’s a greedy course of action that I’ve outlined before in another post and it seems instead of trying to find a way to appease those screwed, the people who make the decisions at the publisher have decided to just show early adopters their middle finger.

Here’s a choice quote on how 505 Games try to explain they’re not screwing over early adopters. Read and be amazed on what they came up with.

I own the Control base game and Season Pass. Is this not the same as Control Ultimate Edition?

The objective of Control Ultimate Edition was not to release new exclusive content on the next gen platforms, but to offer the full Control gameplay experience to new Control players in a single, easy-to-find product. The PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X versions of Control contain the same content as the current gen game, though they do take full advantage of the power and features provided by these new consoles

Control blog.

What. Utter. Bullshit.

I don’t know who came up with that reasoning but that’s as stupid as hell. Lo and behold though, 505 Games are adamant of their line of thinking, loyal customers be damned!

After all, who needs goodwill and the support of the gaming community right?

If you have the game and you’ve bought the Season Pass you have the same damn content as the Ultimate Edition. There’s zero reason why gamers who have both are not entitled to the free upgrade. There’s no content difference between having both the game with the Season Pass and the Ultimate Edition.

Not a single thing.

Oh wait…there is.

It’s greed.
