These days, more and more of us are working on the go and that means we’re buying thinner and lighter laptops. But that means there’s smaller physical space inside the laptop itself, which may compromise on the quality of processors, batteries and more.
As a result, these laptops don’t work as well as the stockier and heavier laptops and of course, desktop computers. Instead, they may be slower and not able to handle certain stuff like heavy-duty graphics or hold as much storage.
Enter Intel.
This week, Intel announced their latest 10th Gen Intel Core Processors (U and Y-series) that will fix those very issues for the modern thin and light laptop designs. This powerful chip packs quite a punch as it now comes with a new mobile processor of up to 6C/12T, a new Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 (Gig+) integrated and new LPDDR4x, LPDDR3, DDR4 memory speed increase to 2666 MT/s.
In other words, the new Intel processor optimises workloads (e.g. better productivity on Office 365 of over 41%), enables smooth 4K capability and over 2.5x faster photo rendering, improves overall performance by up to 16%, nearly 3x faster Wi-Fi and gives up to 8x more bandwidth with Thunderbolt 3.
Here are the specs for both U and Y-series:

Below is a quick look at how the Comet Lake matches up to the Ice Lake chip:

Yes, the Comet Lake processor is designed for the modern laptop user, focusing more on productivity. Comet Lake is set to be released this holiday season. Perhaps you can get yourself a new notebook that will help you do your work faster and smoother than ever before!
