Last year, THQ Nordic mentioned briefly about a new Saints Row game being developed by Volition. But since then, there has been no updates on the progress or its official title.
Stay patient, though! According to Den of Geek, THQ Nordic founder and CEO Lars Wingefors confirmed in their latest financial report that it is currently “deep in development” and is the “first full entry in this much loved series since Saints Row IV was released in 2013”.
This is exciting news for all Saints Row fans as that means the game is still being made and not abandoned. Yet it isn’t much to bite on as the project is kept well under wraps. There’s no further word on the story or if there’s anything new in the game that fans can look forward to. Only time will tell, I guess.
The last full Saints Row game was Saints Row IV which was released in 2013. Its expansion Saints Row: Gat out of Hell was released in two years later. The video game series first launched in 2006 and gained moderate success with favourable reviews overall. The series continued to launch more titles over the next 9 years.
Saints Row was initially criticised for being a copy of Grand Theft Auto but it soon grew into its own thing. It also became known for its over the top humour and pop culture parodies. The gameplay format is in third-person perspective with fun action-adventure and racing elements set in an open world. If you’re looking for a game where you can escape into a fantasy world that’s so crazy that sometimes it doesn’t make any sense, Saints Row is for you.
The fourth installment was the best of the series so far with its insanely entertaining alien invasion storyline. The game sold millions in sales, making Saints Row series one of the best-selling video game franchise of all time.
