According to the Buffalo News, the filming for A Quiet Place 2 has officially begun. Just hours ago, writer and director John Krasinski posted a picture of the clapperboard with the words “Part II” on it and in hashtag form in the tweet.
In the sequel to the 2018 horror movie, Krasinski’s wife and actress Emily Blunt will be returning as Evelyn Abott, along with Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe who play the kids Regan and Marcus respectively. Joining the cast this time are Brian Tyree Henry and Cillian Murphy.
Henry is best known for being Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles in the Atlanta series. He was also recently in 2019 remake of Child’s Play and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Murphy on the other hand began acting since the late 1990s. His most notable roles include Dr Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in the Batman films of The Dark Knight Trilogy, Jim in 28 Days Later, Patrick/Patricia “Kitten” Braden in Breakfast on Pluto and Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders.
According to Observer’s interview with Henry last month, he thinks the story may be focusing on the backstory of the aliens with “a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened” and “see more of that family continuing to survive and finding out that they’re not the only ones.”
Filming has transformed the Village of Akron in upstate New York, at least visually. Route 93 between Buffalo and Church streets are currently closed to traffic till Thursday, 25 July. Meanwhile, there are new facades like different store fronts and awnings on buildings and businesses along Main Street.
The film comes out on 15 May 2020.
