Netflix has ordered a new anime series from Zack Snyder, the director of Sucker Punch. The anime series will be based on Norse mythology.

Snyder will be working with Jay Oliva who will serve as the series’ co-executive producer, director and showrunner. The pair has collaborated before in Justice League, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 300. Plus, Oliva has frequently worked with Netflix.

So far, there isn’t any information on what the series will be about exactly or when it will be released. Yet Netflix’s head of anime programming, John Derderian, has nothing but confidence about Snyder’s capabilities in creating the show.

“Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation,” Derderian said.

“We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.”

Both Snyder and Oliva are currently working in separate Netflix projects. Oliva is the executive producer of another Netflix anime production called Trese that’s based on the Filipino graphic novel of the same name. The story is about Alexandra Trese encountering mythical creatures of Philippine folklore that live in hiding among humans.

Snyder, on the other hand, is the director of a new action horror Army of the Dead and screenplay co-writer with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. The screenplay is based on Snyder’s story and it’s about a group of mercenaries on heist at a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. At the same time, he’s the co executive producer for the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984.
