The latest viral trend #BottleCapChallenge has taken the world by storm. It features videos of people doing spin kicks to remove a bottle cap without knocking the bottle over. Celebrities like actor Jason Statham, MMA fighters Conor McGregor and Max Holloway and even musician John Mayer got in on it.

And it all began with Farabi Davletchin. Hailing from Kazakhstan, he is the 2014 World Champion in Taekwondo, the Eurasian Taekwondo champion in 2015 and 2016 and European Taekwondo champion.

Calling it the #FaraKicksChallenge, Farabi posted an Instagram video of himself opening a bottle of water twice; the first time with a spinning kick and the second with a tornado kick. He then nominated Statham, McGregor and martial arts film stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and Jackie Chan. The last two have yet to respond.

From there, the challenge took off. Statham and McGregor accepted the challenge. The British actor called out director/writer Guy Ritchie and retired martial artist James Moontasri while the former UFC champ passed it forward to former boxer Floyd Mayweather.

The spinning kick seems to be nothing to these martial artists. Just being all cool like. No surprise since kicks are part of what they do.

Many martial artists and athletes quickly took up the challenge too, posting videos of themselves doing the spin kick.

Some celebrities who jumped on the bandwagon also surprised us with their striking skills!

The spinning heel kick is one fancy-looking kick that requires precision and practice, yet the #BottleCapChallenge isn’t just for the martial artists. In fact, many people around the world have joined with their own spin (lel) on it.

Glad to hear no one’s gotten seriously hurt over this. For a viral internet trend, the #BottleCapChallenge sure is entertaining. It’s fun to watch people show off their kicking skills. I wonder what will trend next.
