Yeah, we know we just posted a Diablo news piece but we wanted this one to stand on its own instead of just being a parasitic add-on to that post. So here you go, another Diablo post.

Same same…but different.

This time around we wanted to highlight this incredibly entertaining postmortem on the creation of the original Diablo by one of the original developers, David Brevik.

It’s from GDC 2016 (so yeah it’s a bit old) but it’s still as relevant today as it was when it first came out. Plus, if you’ve never seen it, it’s all new anyways!

The postmortem is an immensely enlightening look into what went into the development of one of the most influential games of all times. What makes the video better are Brevik’s hilarious anecdotes of the many bad business decisions (such as not agreeing to let the guy behind Hotmail have a spare room in their office) the guys behind Diablo made throughout development.

So go ahead, stay awhile and listen.
