I am Iron Ultraman!

We here at The Technovore grew up with Japanese Tokusatsu shows. Ultraman, Power Rangers, Kamen Rider…you name it, we probably watched it.

That’s why when we first heard Netflix was doing an Ultraman anime, we were excited. Then we saw the trailer…and now we’re confused.

We’re not sure whether we’re watching Japanese Iron Man or Ultraman. There’s no morphing going on, there’s no infamous 3-minute timer…hell, there’s no giant kaiju at all! If not for the trademark colors, we’d swear this is a Japanese Iron Man anime.

Is it even Ultraman when Kaiju aren’t Kaiju-sized? It even looks like Ultraman is a suit worn by a normal human, instead of an alien being.

We’d call it a wash and write it off but we’re still hoping the final product is a kickass anime that’ll hopefully do justice to the original Ultraman show.

Netflix’s Ultraman should be hitting the streaming service April 1 so keep an eye out for it. Let’s just hope it’s no joke.
