Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! Alongside with the Autobots too, at least that’ll be the case in this year’s newly announced Ghostbusters x Transformers comic series, which is coming from IDW.
Yeah, it turns out that Ectotron toy wasn’t just a one-off thing. He’s actually the companion piece to this series. In fact, you can see the Transformer in the lower left hand corner of the cover collage image from above.
It doesn’t take much to guess that the original four Ghostbusters will be joined by a whole cadre robots in disguise. Hell, from the cover collage alone we can see a boatload of fan favourites like Devastor, Bumblebee, Soundwave, Grimlock and Ironhide.
Weirdly, Optimus Prime and Megatron are conspicuously absent, as is Starscream. We’re hoping this will mean that Ghost Starscream is making an appearance in the series!
The best part about the comic? It seems like the Transformers are all based off their old school G1 designs, instead of their horrendous Micheal Bay movie looks.
The 5-issue comics series will debut later this year, though IDW hasn’t announced a specific date yet. If we had to guess, we’re wagering that would be right around the time when Hasbro releases Ectotron, in the 2nd half of the year.
The series will be done by Eric Burnham, Dan Schoening and Luis Antonio Delgado, who are behind the regular Transformers comic series at IDW.
In the meantime, make sure to catch up on the IDW Transformers series by reading up on their excellent Transformers comics, along with the numerous crossovers the Transformers have had over the years.
From G.I. Joe to Star Trek, the robots in disguise have been busy traipsing around different properties and it looks like the trend is not stopping anytime soon.
Now if only they’d crossover with Star Wars or Aliens…
