DJI today announced the DJI RS 5, a new lightweight commercial camera gimbal designed to give videographers greater stability, flexibility and creative control on set. The latest addition to the Ronin Series introduces the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module, which lets users frame and track subjects directly from the gimbal’s touchscreen, including people, vehicles and other objects, even in crowded scenes. The module attaches magnetically with no extra adapters and can re‑acquire subjects that leave the frame, making complex moves such as surround shots, reverse tracking and single‑operator tracking far easier to execute.

Powered by DJI’s 5th‑generation RS Stabilization Algorithm, RS 5 boosts peak motor torque by 50% for stronger stabilisation in fast‑moving and vertically shot scenes. Weighing just 1.46kg with battery grip and plates, it supports payloads up to 3kg and a wide range of mainstream mirrorless camera‑and‑lens combinations, and can switch to vertical shooting without additional accessories.

To unlock more creative angles and longer shooting days, RS 5 debuts an Electronic Briefcase Handle for comfortable low‑ and high‑angle shots with one‑hand electronic control, plus an on‑screen Z‑Axis Indicator that guides users to adjust their gait to reduce shake. The standard battery charges fully in about one hour and delivers up to 14 hours of runtime, while the new BG70 High‑Capacity Battery Grip extends operation to as much as 30 hours for demanding productions.

RS 5 also expands wireless camera control with Bluetooth shutter support for Panasonic and Fujifilm systems in addition to Sony, Canon and Nikon, and adds fully adjustable fine‑tuning knobs with Teflon interlayers on each axis for quicker, more precise balancing of heavier rigs. Trusted Ronin features return as well, including 2nd‑generation automated axis locks that open and secure the gimbal automatically, and a 3rd‑generation native vertical switch for near‑instant orientation changes.

The gimbal integrates tightly with DJI’s ecosystem: paired with two DJI Focus Pro Motors, operators can control zoom via the joystick and focus via the dial, while DJI SDR Transmission enables high‑definition monitoring, remote gimbal and camera control and enhanced collaboration. An RSA communication port supports the Electronic Briefcase Handle, RS Tethered Control Handle and third‑party ring handles, and the open RS SDK allows developers to build custom functions for specialised workflows.

In Singapore, the standalone DJI RS 5 is priced at S$669 and includes the gimbal, Quick‑Open Tripod, Lens‑Fastening Support, Screw Kit, upper and lower quick‑release plates, BG33 Battery Grip and Multi‑Camera Control Cable. The DJI RS 5 Combo, at S$849, adds the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module, Electronic Briefcase Handle, L‑shaped cable and a carrying case. Customers can order from online platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, TikTok and Amazon, as well as authorised retail partners.
