Singapore, 4 December 2025 – Audio-Technica today introduces the ATH-ADX7000, a new flagship open-air dynamic headphone crafted in Japan to deliver exceptionally pure, natural and detailed sound for discerning listeners.
Drawing on more than 60 years of transducer expertise, the ATH-ADX7000 debuts Audio-Technica’s new High-Concentricity X Transfer Dynamic Transducer (HXDT) technology, a proprietary driver manufacturing process that tightly controls driver geometry and alignment for cleaner, more accurate sound. By managing every stage from driver design to final assembly in-house, Audio-Technica ensures precise control over airflow, diaphragm movement and acoustic performance.
True Open-Air Audio, Reimagined.

The ATH-ADX7000 is built around Audio-Technica’s True Open-Air Audio philosophy, where the sound is produced purely from diaphragm movement, with minimal influence from the housing. Its fully open-back architecture lets air move freely through the honeycomb aluminium housing, reducing internal pressure and resonance for a wide, natural soundstage and fatigue-free listening over long sessions.
Custom-engineered drivers, optimised specifically for open-air operation, deliver full-range performance with deep, controlled bass usually associated with closed-back designs—without artificial tuning or cup resonance. Core Mount Technology, first introduced in the ATH-ADX5000, further balances front and rear acoustic impedance to keep diaphragm motion symmetrical and stable across the frequency range.
New HXDT Driver Technology.
At the heart of the ATH-ADX7000 is HXDT, a Japan-developed driver process that dramatically tightens concentric alignment of all circular driver components, including the baffle, magnet, voice coil and diaphragm. Precision moulding allows diaphragm shape control to within 0.02 mm—up to ten times more accurate than conventional methods—improving vibration transfer and consistency between units.
A newly optimised high‑impedance voice coil (490 ohms) increases mechanical force without adding mass, enabling faster transients, more defined low-frequency response and wider dynamic range when driven by high-quality amplifiers. The result is cleaner, more natural audio with improved microdetail and transient realism, where the diaphragm moves more freely and efficiently at the acoustic centre.
Effortless, Transparent Sound.
The ATH-ADX7000 is tuned for clarity, openness and natural dynamics, with a presentation that “disappears” and lets the source take centre stage. Bass is deep, full and tightly controlled, providing convincing weight without bloom, while the midrange presents instruments and vocals with lifelike presence and precise spatial placement.
Upper mids and treble offer air and refinement without harshness, lending intimacy to vocals and realism to transients, with detail conveyed through depth and layering rather than exaggerated sharpness. Imaging is wide and stable, with clearly defined separation and a strong sense of acoustic space from natural decay and spatial cues. The overall character targets listeners who value musicality, transparency and long-term listening comfort over aggressive coloration.
Premium Japanese Craftsmanship.
Designed and built in Japan, every component of the ATH-ADX7000 has been engineered for both sonic purity and comfort. The headphone weighs just 275 g (270 g with Alcantara earpads) thanks to its honeycomb aluminium housings and magnesium die-cast frame, delivering a featherlight feel while maintaining rigidity and vibration control.
Unlike conventional punched metal grilles, the honeycomb mesh is formed via a two-step process—first pressing into shape, then precision-punching the hexagonal pattern—to maximise open area for airflow and further expand the soundstage. Magnesium is used for its combination of low weight, strength and natural damping, helping absorb unwanted vibrations from the powerful driver motor and preserving tonal purity.
Two Earpad Options for Tailored Listening.
The ATH-ADX7000 ships with two premium earpad sets to match different listening preferences:
- High-density velvet earpads: Standard fit, selected for their acoustic filtering to suppress resonances while preserving critical frequencies, with a soft, breathable feel suitable for long sessions.
- Alcantara earpads: A more durable, luxury option with subtly different acoustic properties that shift tonal balance for an alternate yet equally refined presentation.
Both options provide secure, comfortable contact around the ear while supporting the open, spacious sound signature.
Included Accessories.
Each ATH-ADX7000 package includes:
- Nylon‑wound balanced XLR cable
- Nylon‑wound unbalanced cable with 6.3 mm (1/4″) gold‑plated stereo plug
- Neutrik connectors and gold‑tipped A2DC connectors on all cables
- Compact hard storage case for protection and transport
These accessories ensure immediate compatibility with both high‑end balanced desktop setups and traditional headphone amplifiers.
