Jabra has always been at the forefront of consumer earbuds experience, so to be able to review their latest Elite 10 earbuds was an amazing experience.

The Elite 10 is also Jabra’s most advanced earbuds and packs a myriad of advance technology in it.

What is the Jabra Elite 10?

The Jabra Elite 10 true wireless earbuds are Jabra’s latest and most advance earbuds in their product lineup. Designed using their proprietary Jabra ComfortFit technology which harness the data of 62,000 ear scans for that one perfect fit for any ear shape.

Jabra Advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) meant that you get twice the noise cancellation as compared to previous versions. Even the sound of jet engines can be cancelled with this new Advance ANC technology.

Aesthetics.

We got ourselves the Cream colored Elite 10. Elegant looking and posh feeling, the new Elite 10 was a total new design from the previous Elite series of earbuds. Weighing in at 45.9g, the charging case appears to be rounder and but wider akin to hotel bar soaps. With a span of 65.4mm and 46.9mm in height the Elite 10 fits perfectly in the jeans or any handbag.

The earbuds itself appears to look like a mix of teardrop and beans with a short bud for the ear tip. I was quite skeptical about it at first and worry that it will not be able to hold well in m ear canal.

I fumbled with it at first as it is supposed to be a semi-open design and the earbuds would fall out if not placed properly. But once I got the hang out of it, the earbuds fit well thanks to Jabra’s Comfort fit technology which actually scans 62,000 ears to create the four unique sets of gel tips for the Elite 10.

Controls and functions.

The Elite 10 features the same feedback buttons over the shimmering Jabra logo as per its predecessors which is great! Don’t change something that works, I always prefer a feedback so that I am reassured that I actually pressed the button. Even for keyboards I prefer those mechanical tactile ones than the quiet keys.

To pair the earbuds, simply turn on your Bluetooth and hold down both buttons for 3 seconds, you should be able to see the Elite 10 on your device. Alternatively, just put the earbuds in your ear and follow the instructions from the earbuds itself. It is pretty efficient and I really love the seamless way of paring the earbuds. It supports Bluetooth Multipoint and pairs up to 10 devices with a 10m range which is quite impressive.

If pairing doesn’t work, holding them longer for 10 seconds, it will refresh the earbuds previous pairing instruction and you will be able to repair them.

For call mode, press once on either earbud to pickup and twice to end calls. Holding the left earbud would reduce the volume while holding the right earbud will increase the volume.

For music mode, press once on the left ear bud will toggle between hear through and ANC mode, twice to activate voice assistant and hold down the button to reduce the volume. To play or pause the music, press once on the right bud. Press twice to change next track while thrice to go back previous track. Press and hold to increase volume.

The controls are pretty much the same but if you are using the Evolve 2 then the controls will be the opposite. You will be able to change these settings to your comfort via the Jabra Sound+ App.

Jabra Sound+ App.

Fans of Jabra devices would have the Jabra Sound+ app already installed in their mobiles devices, simply just select Elite 10 in the app and you are good to go.

The app is pretty much the same, you will be able to toggle between ANC/Hearthrough at the sound mode section.

The highlight of Elite 10 is the Spatial Sound with Dolby Head Tracking which you will be able to toggle via the app to bringout the best of the music, movie or even game that you are enjoying. The Dolby technology will automatically optimize your audio for the best possible audio experience. Whereas the Dolby Head tracking uses sensors in the earbuds to detect head movements and recalibrate soundscape to ensure that you are always in the center of the immersive sound experience.

The music equalizer provides you with six preset modes or you can play around with the equalizer to increase/reduce the bass, mid and treble to suit your hearing needs.

There is also a soundscape option where you can activate background noises through the Sound+ app. Sounds like Rainy day, ocean waves or even a mechanical fan. Although it’s a cool function, I really just like the rainy day option which is nice when you want to have some quiet time in a messy environment

Performance.

Marketed as Jabra’s most advance earbuds for work and life is not something to be taken lightly of. We all know that Jabra had been at the forefront of the lifestyle Earbuds market, therefore we were really excited to try out the brand new Elite 10.

The Jabra Elite 10 is packed with the latest technologies like Spatial Sound with Dolby Head Tracking technology. It supports SBC and AAC therefore Apple users would be able to enjoy the sound experience to their fullest.

We tried the Elite 10 with music and movies which supported Dolby Atmos and rewatched films like Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. We were not disappointed, the powerful 10mm drivers were already delivering quality sound and coupled with the Dolby Head Tracking. It felt like your are wrapped around a cocoon where the music bounce around in 3D especially while watching Marvel movies with it’s dynamic fight scenes. We tried moving like T’Challa while having the Dolby Head Tracking on and off during the fight scene. It actually makes a difference, you can feel yourself in a spacesuit floating in space and constantly being barraged by the sound.

While listening to Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, I felt like I was in the auditorium with Mariah Carey serenading me with those powerful vocals. It was powerful but not loud, you can “feel” the chills down your spine when she hits the high notes. Incredible! was the experience, once you started using Spatial sound with Dolby Headtracking technology you would not go back to earbuds without this technology.

The Elite 10 comes with not 4 but 6 MEMS microphone and coupled with Jabra’s latest technology to filter out background noises which produces clear and crisp voice. I stay in the east and would frequent East Coast Park for a walk, therefore I would always be tasked to try the call function during these walks. The beach can be quite windy at times, the Elite 10 did an amazing job given these conditions. It cannot totally filtered out the whooshing of the wind, but my EIC Sal was able to hear clearly what i was communicating with him. Maybe a bit too much as the barking of the dogs and surrounding noises from the bicycles made it much difficult for him to hear. Whereas on my part I could hear Sal loud and clear.

When I was not chatting with Sal, I was immersing myself in the music with ANC on. I can say that it was pretty dangerous to have ANC on while walking at a shared path as I almost got knock over by a bicycle. I didn’t hear it coming from behind me until I felt the wind from the passing bicycle. I guess that’s a win for ANC. HearThrough was pretty solid too, you will still get a low hum white noise when you turned it on but you will literally be able to hear everything unless you are blasting your music with HearThrough on.

Bottom Line.

Jabra claimed that the Elite 10 is their most advance earbuds yet and I have no doubt about it. Be it work, play or just relaxing with the soundscape on. The Elite 10 is versatile and comfortable to use, thanks to Jabra’s ComfortFit technology. Great new facelift, feels and looks premium in any settings.

In terms of performance, the addition of the spatial sound with Dolby head tracking technology was a gamechanger and I would buy the Elite 10 just for it. Now, I would only go for earbuds with these technologies. SBC and AAC are good but it would be nice if the Elite 10 could support aptX codec too for an earbud priced at the higher end of the market. The ANC and Hearthrough technology did better than its predecessors, I would not rate it as the best in the market but it’s getting there.

Great battery life of around 7hours with 21hours backup to last the day and IP57 rating for sweat and dust are what consumers expect for high end earbuds. My cream colored review piece looks great but tends to get dirty once my hands got oily or sweaty and transferred the dirt onto it.

TLDR:

All round cinematic experience built into a small package.

The Good.

  • Great technology with the spatial sound and Dolby head tracking.
  • Comfort.
  • ANC and Hearthrough.
  • Connectivity.
  • Premium Design.

The Bad.

  • Price.
  • Lack of aptX Codec support.
  • Speak quality can be better.
