Wireless earbuds have become ubiquitous in recent years, but most users often face challenges when trying to use them. For one, audio quality can be pretty questionable. If you have tried using conventional wireless earbuds to do voice or video calls, the call quality is often below that of dedicated headsets. It might not be noticeable to you, but it’s definitely noticeable to those on the other end. Finding the right earbuds can be like looking for a needle in a very very large haystack. Thankfully, the Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC earbuds has the potential to be that needle in a sea of haystacks.

They are lightweight, portable and as a hybrid device, can be used for both work and play. Since they’re earbuds, they don’t take up space, offering a discreet look for those over regular headphones.

So, after some very rigorous testing, are the Poly Voyager 60+ UC wireless earbuds worth your money?

Active Noise cancellation? Check. Decent talk-time? Check. Single ear usage? Check. Lightweight? Check (each earbud weighs only 5.8g). PC connectivity? Check!

On the audio side of things, the earbuds have 10mm drivers supporting AAC, aptX, SBC and mSBC Codecs means that both Apple and Android users are able to enjoy quality music.

Finally, the earbuds are IP54 rated, which means they’re resistant to sweat, water and dust.

Note, the objective term here is resistant.

That means the Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC offers limited protection, but is not water, sweat or dustproof…It shouldn’t matter much though unless you’re caught in a heavy thunderstorm, sweating buckets or going swimming in a pool. The earbuds should hold up well no matter the activity.

One Charging Case To Rule Them All.

The earbuds aren’t all you get when you nab the product. You also get the nifty carrying case (which weighs 80gs) that also doubles as a charger.

Instead of having to fumble with controls on your phone or earbud, the Voyager’s unique charging case is also designed to be a one-stop control center you can control the entire audio experience easily.

It’s a great addition and allows you access to a lot of control options to optimize your audio experience.

The case catches your attention immediately due to its unique OLED touchscreen display that lights up with colorful icons when you take the earbuds out or when you press the button that sits next to its USB-C charging port.

The OLED touch display is nice and bright and is even visible under sunlight.

Using the touchscreen, you can quickly control music playback, activate active noise cancelling mode, switch devices, adjust the volume and check the battery levels.

Everything you’d want to do, with just a few presses and swipes.

It honestly makes everything that much more intuitive and you’ll get the hang of using it in just a few minutes.

The touchscreen even displays a QR code if you need to download the Poly Lens app (for your phone, PC or Mac) or the product manual.

That’s not all.

Inside the case is the additional BT700 USB Bluetooth adapter that lets you quickly connect the Voyager Free 60+ UC to a computer or laptop. This adapter provides a rock-solid wireless connection and a range of up to 30m. The adapter also lets you use the charging case as a mute switch during calls.

If you’re familiar with Bluetooth dongles, you’re set with the one included. It’s pretty much plug and play on the PC, and I had no issue setting it up and getting it to recognize the earbuds at all. Just a few seconds of setup and the earbuds were ready and raring to go.

I never got connection drops or disconnects during my review testing so that’s definitely a plus!

The charging case also becomes a Bluetooth transmitter when you use the included USB-C to 3.5mm cable to connect to other devices, including the audio setup in planes. If you’re constantly flying around, you won’t need to depend on in-flight headphones to enjoy the in-flight entertainment.

On top of that, using the case that way also charges it so you’re ready to go anytime.

Pretty cool right?

The case’s fast-charging capability gives you an extra hour of talk time for every 15 minutes and will fully recharge your buds two times for up to 16.5 hours of active call use.

Light and Powerful Earbuds.

Poly Voyager Free 60+

To meet the modern demands of hybrid work, the Voyager earbuds each have a 3-microphone array that triangulates on your voice and minimizes surrounding noise so you always sound clear during conference calls.

Adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation and wind-blocking technologies ensure that you are not distracted when making your business presentation.

The earbuds also offer sidetone technology which feeds your voice back to your ears so you can speak at low volumes instead of raising your voice unnecessarily during calls.

The Voyager earbuds have been certified for use with platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, so you can be assured of a simple plug-and-play experience with every call.

Poly Voyager Free 60+

In my testing, there’s a definite difference in quality between the Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC and my current earbuds. I had my wife call me using both my regular gear and the Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC and I noticed a clarity present in the Voyager that wasn’t on the other.

It’s not a huge difference, but the quality increase is definitely much appreciated. The Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC also shines brightly in the audio department. I listened to music while driving and loved the audio quality. The bass is decent, the vocals are crystal clear. I really don’t have much complaints for music.

The ANC works well while I’m driving, until a point I missed a turn because I could not hear my wife yelling me to turn right. Husbands out there, this is something you might want to consider getting.

Using multiple devices? You can use the Voyager at the same time with two devices and pair them with up to 8 devices in total. Finally, you can also customize the earbuds by using the Poly Lens app, available on Android, iOS, PC and Mac platforms.

The Bottom Line.

Poly Voyager Free 60+

The Poly Voyager Free 60+ UC is a good choice for anybody who wants an all-round, lightweight pair of earbuds.

It packs a lot of features that many people, from high powered executives to casual listeners, will surely appreciate. On top of that, the carrying case is cool too!

While the earbuds sure can do better in the ANC department, all in all, they’re definitely a great choice if you’re looking for premium earbuds that can do almost anything.

TLDR:

Powerhouse true wireless earbuds that bring a lot to the table.
