When you think of a Marvel fighting game, the next thoughts will probably have Capcom in them. After all, Capcom has a great history with the property (even Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is decent now with the SSDs of the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series). Meanwhile, Netherrealm Studios are kicking ass with the DC Injustice games.
Stands to reason that any new Marvel fighting game would be from Capcom right?
…maybe not.
Ed Boon heads Netherrealm Studios. You know, the guys behind Mortal Kombat and Injustice?
If anything, the studio’s proven that it can handle fighting games with no issues. Don’t believe me? Read our Mortal Kombat 11 review and see for yourself. Injustice 2 is just as good, if not better. In fact, I honestly prefer that game to most modern fighters. The game’s gear and levelling system is a great incentive to keep playing the game…even now, years after release. To date, no other fighter has the same longevity!
While I’d have bet big money that Injustice 3 will be revealed soon (particularly as DC has continued its Injustice series since late last year), maybe the next release from the studio will be a Marvel fighter!
Or maybe it’s just Ed Boon trolling all of us.
It’s a 50/50 bet at this point.
Me? I’m betting there’s a Marvel game coming.
