Everybody has to come together now that COVID-19 is plaguing the world and threatening countless millions. Most of us however, don’t have the medical skills or tech to be on the front lines. What we do have however, are computers.Be it desktop or notebook, you now put them to good use by helping to contribute to Folding@home.

Wait, what’s that you ask?

Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project for simulating protein dynamics, including the process of protein folding and the movements of proteins implicated in a variety of diseases. It brings together citizen scientists who volunteer to run simulations of protein dynamics on their personal computers. Insights from this data are helping scientists to better understand biology, and providing new opportunities for developing therapeutics.

To put it in the basest terms, it’s a program that lets you offer your hardware to run simulations to help scientists in their work. Folding@home can be tasked on a variety of diseases but we’re focusing on COVID-19 for now.

In case you were wondering why this all sounds so familiar?

It’s because the Playstation 3 had this very program! Hopefully, with these trying times, Microsoft and Sony are working on porting a version of Folding@home to the Xbox One and PS4!

We’re not just preaching…even as I’m writing this, I’m running Folding@home in the background!

Take a look!

All you have to do is download and install the program from the website then just run it! Choose whether you want it to run whenever your PC is idle or in use and you’re done! All you have to do is just sit back, relax and let your PC do the work.

So if you want to feel like you’re helping while you’re gaming under quarantine, there’s no better way to do so than by doing this!
