Actor and comedian Kevin Hart has jumped onboard a new project with STX Entertainment, this time a superhero comedy film “Night Wolf”. The high concept comic superhero pitch was bought from Detective Pikachu writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit.

According to Variety, Hart “instantly fell in love” with the pitch and he and his HartBeat Productions will be producing the film. This is the third project Hart and STX Entertainment are collaborating in this year and fourth overall. The other two are Black Friday and an unnamed rom-com flick.

In Night Wolf, Hart will take on the role of an everyman who meets his future father-in-law for the first time and discovers that he’s secretly the superhero Night Wolf.

Knowing that alone is enough to make me imagine how Hart’s character will react to that discovery. No matter what character he plays, there will always be room for his signature angry or scared “freakout” bit. He always does it in his stand-up specials and even in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing but it’s just very him. Which means it’s going to be pretty hilarious.

Seeing the success of the highly entertaining film “Detective Pikachu”, there’s no doubt that Night Wolf would have its fair share of funny moments.

As reported by Deadline, Chairman of STXfilms Adam Fogelson said, “After we acquired Night Wolf, we submitted it to Kevin Hart and the Team at HartBeat hoping they would love it as much as we did. It is a big, broad comedy and the idea is great fun and perfectly matched with Kevin’s comedic talent. We are thrilled to be working on what will now be our fourth film together.”

Variety confirms that Hart shares his enthusiasm as well: “I am excited to be working with our friends at STX again. They brought us a great project with Night Wolf. I instantly fell in love with this pitch about an everyday guy who is meeting his in-laws for the first time and unwittingly discovers his dad to be is secretly a superhero.”

So far, there’s no release date yet. Hart himself is currently shooting for a drama called Fatherhood that’s scheduled to come out sometime next year. Looking forward to get the subsequent updates about Night Wolf.
