Today, Samsung launched their latest Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ mobile phones at an exclusive media event at Plaza Singapura. So I managed to get my hands on the latest phones to try them out.
The phones will only be available in a couple of weeks on 24 August 2019, but they’ve already got the world buzzing with excitement. The Galaxy Note10 will come in Aura Glow and Aura Black while the Galaxy Note10+ come in Aura Glow, Aura Black and Aura White.
The new Samsung offerings include exciting features that revolve around productivity, design, performance and creation. What interest me most are the improvements in the S Pen and the whole range of add-ons for the phone camera.

Productivity
You can now do so much more with the S Pen. It can be a remote control for your apps such as changing camera modes, music, videos and more. All you have to do is make simple gestures called Air Actions. E.g. To switch to selfie mode, open the Camera app, press the button on the S Pen and motion it upwards.
This may take a bit of getting used to as sometimes the Air Actions may not register and you’ll find yourself doing them a few times before your phone responds. Also, they’re not compatible with external apps like the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game. I tried it at the launch event where they had the game booth. But hey, at least using the S Pen in the game did help with tracing those glowing glyphs more accurately.
Besides the Air Actions, you can also use the new Intelligent Pen function. If you’re the kind who prefers handwriting notes instead of typing them out, this one’s for you. Simply tap the screen to turn your handwriting into readable text and you can share them with your peers. Perfect for note-taking!

Creation
There’s so many more cool things you can do with the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ camera now. The biggest thing is the ability to shoot and edit videos straight from your phone using the built-in editor called Pro-Grade Video Camera. This makes things easier and faster for you to then share your creation on social media.
If you have trouble recording audio, you can use Zoom-In Mic that allows you to zoom in or out on your subject and capture the sound you want. This is very useful for when you’re filming in a crowded area.
Another cool feature is the Live Focus Video mode where you can record videos in filters like adding bokeh effects and other fun styles.
All of this is made possible by the capabilities of the Galaxy Note10’s triple rear camera and Note10+’s quad rear camera.

Performance
Every year, Samsung always lives up to their promise of upgrading device performance. This year, they boast two features called Intelligent Battery and Super Fast Charge 2.0.
Intelligent Battery is when the phone somehow adapts to how you use your phone with adaptive power saving mode. This is especially useful for when you’re multitasking between different apps that typically drains a lot of battery. Plus, it helps smoothen the multitasking process.
And because of all the new features packed inside the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+, you’ll be needing to charge your phones much faster than before. With Super Fast Charge 2.0, you can.

Design
Thanks to the Dynamic AMOLED display, videos and games will look sharp and in colours that are true to the eye.
As if that’s not enough, the phones come with Cinematic Infinity Displays. The Galaxy Note10 screen measures at 6.3 inches and the Note10+ at 6.8 inches.
Watching your favourite shows and playing apps will never be the same again.
