The first chapter of the American supernatural horror remake, It, came out two years ago. The movie’s most memorable scene for me was the library scene (click to watch) with Pennywise chasing down poor Ben (Jeremy Ray Taylor). Bill Skarsgård really knocked it out of the park with his incredibly creepy portrayal of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, shutting down all pre-movie chatters of skeptics.
As a fan of the 1986 original film adaptation of the Stephen King novel, Skarsgård’s performance is different from Tim Curry’s and satisfyingly terrifying in his own right.
In other words, I was perfectly satisfied (and shook) with the amount of terror Skarsgård has already brought in as the most horrifying figure from my childhood. So in anticipation of the second chapter of the modern version, I didn’t think Skarsgård’s Pennywise could get any scarier.
Welp, I was wrong. So wrong.
Enter the It: Chapter Two trailers. Here’s the first one if you missed it back in May.
And here’s the Final Trailer that just came out hours ago:
“For 27 years, I’ve dreamt of you… I’ve craved you… I’VE MISSED YOU!”
Those lines though… Creepy!
Once again, Skarsgård makes another big impression with his role of Pennywise, taking it to a whole other level of “OH FREAKKK!” Something I didn’t expect was possible. But Skarsgård blew it right out of the water. Now, I can barely contain my excitement to see the movie.
In the upcoming sequel, the story takes place years later when The Losers Club kids have become adults. They return to Derry, due to a tragic death of the first victim of an awakened It. As the band gets back together, they figure out a way to finally stop It once and for all.

This time, the main cast features James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, Bill Hader (wait, what?!) as Richie Tozier, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak, Andy Bean as Stan Uris and of course Bill “The Man” Skarsgård as It/Pennywise.
The trailer does a good job showing off how fantastic the casting is. The kid actors, Sophia Lillis, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Jaeden Martell, Jack Dylan Grazer, Chosen Jacobs and Finn Wolfhard really look like their adult counterparts.

Some fans have pointed out that, based on a few glimpses from the trailer, the sequel will be showing the Ritual of Chüd and the smoke hole ceremony from the book. The Ritual of Chüd is a battle of wills in another dimension that turns out to be the only way to defeat It while the smoke hole ceremony is where they received a vision of It as an ancient evil being that feeds off the town of Derry.
They may be right because director Andy Muschietti did tell Yahoo Movies that the sequel would explore the “transdimensional” element from the original novel. He wanted to introduce “that other dimension” in the second film. Besides, his other concern at the time was that he didn’t want to incorporate the VFX-heavy trippy scenes due to budget constraints. So since the first film successfully made over $320 million locally and over $700 million worldwide, he might be able to achieve what he wanted.
Well, we can only see it for ourselves when the film comes out on 6 September 2019.
Till then, we’ll dream of It, crave It and hopefully not miss It!
