By now, you probably would’ve watched Your Name (Kimi no Na Wa) at least once – an animated film by Makoto Shinkai, that captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with its gorgeous animations and heart-warming story when it was first released in 2016. You probably would also have heard that Makoto Shinkai will be releasing a new film this year, known as Weathering with You.

While we anticipate the release of his upcoming film, it seems that Uniqlo has had a surprise in store. For the first time ever, Makoto Shinkai will be launching a clothing collaboration with Uniqlo!

What are the designs like?

The upcoming collection will have 7 designs in total – four of which will be inspired by Your Name, with the latter three being inspired by the upcoming Weathering with You. Each shirt will retail at 1,500 yen (probably $19.90 in Singapore), and will have sizes ranging from S to XXL.

Here’s one of the Your Name designs, with an image from one of the most iconic scenes in the film:

Moving on, here’s one of the designs inspired by Weathering with You, featuring the film’s main teaser image:

Last but not least, here are the other two designs from Weathering with You. One is inspired by the film’s take on the sky (that can be seen in the film’s trailer), and the other is a simpler design with a cat (whose role we’re not sure of yet):

The Uniqlo x Makoto Shinkai collection will launch on 15 July, 2019, in both online and physical stores. Though it’s only been confirmed for a Japan release, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for an international release – seeing as how gorgeous all these designs are.
